NUTRILITE and MilanLab speak about their cooperation showing how diet, science, technology and a tailor-made approach are key to reaching optimal health

Milan, March 18th 2010 NUTRILITE™, the world’s leading brand of vitamin, mineral, and dietary supplements* and MilanLab the Research Center within the world’s most successful football club, presented today in Milan, Italy, their scientific collaboration, a new landmark in the field of research applied to nutrition and sports. As partner NUTRILITE shares with AC Milan its first-class scientific knowledge with the goal of leading soccer players to their optimal health also through nutrition. As part of the project, a personalized diet, rich in fruit and vegetables and with proper supplementation, has been developed for each athlete, with specific recommendations on timing and conditions provided by NUTRILITE experts. An approach that is accessible to all, in which a personalized diet is a strategic element to achieve excellent physical condition.

A customized nutritional program is developed on the basis of the results of blood and genetic tests, lifestyle and nutritional questionnaires. The results are then analyzed and processed within the NUTRILITE Health Institute, in the US, where an assessment of the nutritional needs required by each single soccer player to achieve an optimal performance is made.

NUTRILITE experts Micheline Vargas, Nutrition Research Scientist, and Duke Johnson, Medical Director NUTRILITE Health Institute, met all the soccer players to illustrate their personalized program. “Nutrition, science, mutual admiration and trust are at the basis of being partners with MilanLab and the Team, underlined Micheline Vargas. “The program was launched after we presented the scientific evidence at the core of NUTRILITE’s approach to diet and supplementation. The soccer players particularly appreciated the natural ingredients from organic farming that distinguish our products”.

The team is following the suggested nutritional and supplement program and the data we have collected so far show evident beneficial results”, stated Daniele Tognaccini, MilanLab Project Leader and Responsible for strength & conditioning. “The soccer players reported a decrease in fatigue and in muscular cramps during soccer practice and games. Recent laboratory tests showed improvements in the values of the majority of players following the recommendations, such as an increase in Vitamin D levels”.
